TOTAL HOURS REQUIRED FOR WEEK: 10
TOTAL HOURS COMPLETED FOR WEEK: 20
Fri, Apr 17
Events: Today I worked on getting my poster ready and all things in place. I went to the Rodgers to get the backdrop for tomorrow before school as well, then spent the rest of my time painting the poster. Elizabeth came to Lovett at 3:30 and we spent the next 45 minutes putting stuff in place getting ready for tomorrow!
Hours for the day: 3
Thur, Apr 16
Events: Today I worked on making the poster (I didn't get to paint it only assemble it, which took a lot longer than expected and i had to measure the trophy case). After 6th period I grabbed some lunch and drove over to FOCUS. Today we went on shopping errands. Elizabeth and I went to Sam's and bought food, then went over to Party City to get the fun stuff. It's awesome how everything is coming together and tomorrow we're going to start to assemble some things!
Hours for the day: 3.5
Wed, Apr 15
Events: After going to the doctors I finally made it to school around 11, took my test at 12 and then left promptly at 1:00 (since I got out of class a little early). I drove to FOCUS's office today, took me about 20 minutes to get there and arrived around 1:30. I woked there till 3:30, creating the nametags- filling in the participants and volunteers names. This took a lot longer than expected... the template was very tricky and wouldn't let you duplicate it easily. So I had to put it on about 4 different word pages, and then double check that I didn't forget anyone or misspell any names. As well we created a list of things we will need to buy tomorrow, and found any items we'll be using on Saturday and put those in a pile. I also created one of the posters for the event- using my very "advanced" Photoshop skills (thanks Karey). As well I created an email for Brian to send off to the volunteers detailing the plans for the night and what to wear. We got a lot done, and tomorrow will be fun because we're going to go shopping! It took me a wopping 40 minutes to get back home though, I know understand what people mean when they talk about Atlanta traffic, but really it's people leaving atlanta getting back out side of the perimeter the traffic is never going towards atlanta or buckhead (unless you're in downtown then you're swamped).
Hours for the day: 3
Tues, Apr 14
Events: Today I woke up and got ready to school, then made some emails and contacted Chick-fil-A about our event on Saturday asking if we could get any discount. The manager I talked to said she was sure we could work something out and would call me with a quota- but has yet too, so if she doesn't call me back by mid-day tomorrow, I'll give her another ring. The first Chick-fil-A I talked to said they wouldn't do anything, but I tried another, which said yes, so that proves to never take no for an answer! I got to school around 10 and dropped in with Mrs. Morris-Long. We went together to find this black paper I need to cover up the trophy case, which I'm going to paint over. Then I got a list of who all has signed up to volunteer, and cross-referenced and checked people off, and then sent another email to Rev about who initially signed up and has yet to follow up- which he's going to take care of. I was going to CVS to get some marker and supplies for my project when I got a flat tire- so I couldn't start working on my painting! I'll start it tomorrow thou, should be a busy day.
Hours for today: 1.5
Mon, Apr 13
Events: Today was again a little slow, but luckily my announcement in assembly worked and I got emails all day with people asking me to send them the forms and wanting to sign up! Whew- that's a relief, I think a bunch of people sent in their forms today! People just need to be reminded of things- a lot- and eventually it gets done. So besides forwarding people emails all day with the forms to fill out, I took some more time to do research on the disease. The more I learn the happier I am that I'm helping out on this noble cause. There's so much to each disease and they all vary greatly, you can be almost completely independent or you can be heavily dependent. I think about how hard this must be on the parents, and I understand them wanting to stay at the Gala on Saturday to make sure they are there if needed for their relief and their childs. Tomorrow I'm going to work on painting the sign, and any decorations I can do. We found the backdrop, so now I gotta find out when I should pick it up!

Fri, Apr 10
Events: Today I was on my way to the office, when I checked my phone to see that Elizabeth had to cancel our meeting today. As of know I'm waiting to see if Brian is going to email me about stuff to send out/do for the volunteers. With the drive and sending out emails/calls not much time was spent today. So instead today I decided to educate myself on Down Syndrome and Cerebral Palsy. I came across some very interesting facts and got to look into some questions I had myself. Besides just learning about the disease, I got to see how much effort has to go into having a child with Down Syndrome. One website suggested having your child (probably toddler age) go to about 5 different types of therapists to enhance their skills while they're still young. As well, how to deal with your child as they approach adolescence and further.
Total hours for Day: 1.5
Thurs, Apr 9
Events: Today was not very productive, since I didn't have anything I could really do. I woke up at 8 got myself ready for school, and got to school around 9:30. So, I basically used my morning as just a normal free period, and didn't do any work. When i got to school I had a meeting with Mrs. Morris-Long and Mrs. Alig to go over some more details and questions Elizabeth posed, that I knew the all knowing Mrs. Morris-Long would have answers too (she's my savior). Our meeting went on for about 30 minutes, and then I spent another 30 minutes sketching a possible design for a poster to create. I had another dropped class last, which I used to finish my painting (it turned out great) but I genuinely didn't have anything I could do. Next week might be a little more hectic!!!
Total hours for Day: 1
Weds, Apr 8
Events: I woked in a coffee shop for two hours on my project today, it was very relaxing and delicious (I highly recommend Octane). I'm not sure how much more free time I'm going to need to work on the project though... Around 10 I packed my stuff up and went to Cherokee to shower up and change then returned to school around 10:30 to finish my school day.
Total hours for Day: 2
Tues, Apr 7
Events: Today I woke up at 8 and started printing the stuff needed for my visit to FOCUS's office today and getting all my information collected. I worked for about 30 minutes then I got ready and was off to school. Third period, I finished a sketch which took around 15 minutes then didn't do anything for the remainder of the period since there was nothing else to do. I continued all of my classes and then left school around 1:20, and off to FOCUS's office I went. I stopped to grab a quick lunch on the way and my commute took around 30 minutes. I got to Focus at 2, and then stayed there till 3:40ish working. We went over all of the stuff for the gala and how i should be spending my time before our next meeting on Friday. I have lots to go over with Mrs. Morris-Long, hopefully I can talk to her tomorrow or thursday to get some details resolved. It was a productive and busy day!

Thurs, Apr 2
Events:
Today I got to school on a normal time (even a little bit early for FCA)
and had all my normal classes and then left after lunch. I went home
during third period and got some more work done before Easter Break. I
spent my time looking at places to possibly buy customizable lanyards
and getting quotas for them. I also had to create another floor plan
and map of Lovett, and looking online for other party decorations!
Total hours for Day: 1.5
Weds, Apr 1
Events: Today I woke up bright and early and got to FOCUS a little before 8 (with a coffee in hand and a 20 minute drive). I worked at focus for 2.5 hours, and then took the 20 minute drive back to school to finish my school day. After lunch I left and went home to finish researching some of the work I had to do for another hour. Overall it was a very productive day, and I know the work I need to do for tomorrow.
Total hours for Day: 4
Tues, Mar 31
Events: I worked at home for over 2 hours today. I spent my time researching where to get a customizable 007 backdrop versus pre made ones. Turns out there are a lot of companies that specifically make backdrops. I spent my entire time just looking up stuff for the fine details, such as finger foods, cloths, game ideas, props, dress code, and a map of Lovett! It was a productive day and it was nice working from the comfort of my bed :)
Total hours for Day: 2.5
Mon, Mar 30
Events: Today Mrs. Hewell and Brian Darden came over from FOCUS to Lovett. We met during lunch and continued our meeting somewhat into third period ( a class I decided to drop). We, with the help of Mrs. Morris-Long and Mrs. Alig, walked over to the middle school to figure out spacing and design a better layout for the prom. We went over materials needed and when we should meet next, Wednesday morning, and what our time together may look like. It was perfect that they came to Lovett because I didn't have to drive over to their location and I got to go to a much needed math tutorial!
